Documents Required:
(A) New items: original invoice and OBL or AWB
(B) Used items: List of items with actual value signed by customer, copy of
passport and OBL or AWB. We recommend that no insurance or other declared values be
evident on inventory or shipping documents to enable maximum allowances for use factors.
Note:
For electronic and electric appliances, customs requiere: brand (make), and serial number.
Customs Regulations:
Average tax is 34%.
Clearance:
5 working days, (Customer presence is not required).
Remarks:
All household goods and personal effects must be unloaded in bonded warehouse for customs
inspection (effective October 06 1993).
All Costaricans that have lived overseas for more than two
years are allowed to import all their used household goods and personal effects with lower
duties.
Big appliances must not exceed one of each item. Customer must submit a
letter from the nearest Costarican Consulate abroad, stating that he has lived more than
two years abroad.This partial tax exemption approval takes four weeks to be approved in Costa Rica. |
